Hugelkultur, natürlich!

As you can see, we're committed to growing some serious veggies this season. We've moved our lilac bushes out to the edge of the sidewalk, thus making room for some raised beds. These will be filled primarily with potatoes.
This method of bed-building is called Hugelkultur. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hugelkultur). We discovered it in a permaculture book. (In case you don't know what permaculture is... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permaculture) Anyway, we're excited and anxious to see things greening up around here.
