Growing Things

These photos were taken just yesterday. As you can see, we've made some progress with the beds, and things are actually growing! It's all very exciting, and we're very excited about all the excitement! (Don't worry, we balance the excitement with plenty of depression and self-loathing)

The first photo is the four potato beds, now with a few 'tweener beds in which I've seeded nasturtiums and carrots. The next picture is our lovely backyard. Obviously, we're not trying to impress anyone with our hanging laundry and very utilitarian plastic greenhouse. But the flagstone patio turned out quite nice, didn't it?

The next two show the work we've done on the southwest corner of our backyard. The idea is to get those grapes to grow up onto that trellis we've built. Gretchen is standing on a ladder in the alley...it looks like she's just floating there. The teepee-looking thing will be repositioned and will (hopefully) have beans and flowers climbing up it. Our limited growing space requires that we make proficient use of trellises and vining plants.

The weather here couldn't be more perfect. Well, this weekend, anyway, it's 70 degrees and sunny, with a very gentle breeze. I'll be out there enjoying myself (if I can peel myself away from this computer), while Gretchen is in Boulder, taking care of her Harriet.

Ciao,
G&M

Oh yes! That last photo is a lovely lady with her lovely smile, planting summer squash.
