Winterland
We went for a leisurely stroll today and took these pics. Things have frozen up around here since our cold spell last week. The one with Gretchen in it was taken in Meadow Park, about a quarter mile from our house. We'll put more photos of that park on here later, as its cliffs are quite dramatic with proper lighting.
While perusing a favorite sauna website of ours (http://www.kalle.com/sauna_faq.html), we came across an hilarious posting (feel free to poo poo me on my use of 'an' instead of 'a' here) by a British guy named Blair:

Taking inspiration from your site I constructed my own steam tent (without hot stones) really cheaply. I thought some of your readers might be interested. I bought a two person dome shaped tent from my local ASDA (Wallmart) for £39.95 and the cheapest steam wallpaper stripper they had in Argos (another budget retail outlet). This cost £20.00. All I did was rig the steam stripper up to the tent in my garden and within ten minutes I had a good steady supply of steam. After fifteen minutes in the tent I had a worked up a good sweat. My recipe for nirvana; two dark chocolate Magnum bars in a bucket of ice; one inflatable kids paddling pool full of cold water plus steam tent. Instructions: twenty minute steam, plunge into paddling pool, eat magnums, repeat as desired. If anyone thinks they can make a cheaper steam sauna, I throw down the gauntlet. That last photo is quite interesting.
Your post about the cheapo sauna brought back memories of the YMCA and your mother's front yard.
Oh, you mean when we tried to make our own super-mini sauna out of a 3x4x4 wooden cargo box? Yeah, that didn't really work out, did it... And the YMCA story..right. We brought soda cans full of water into the sauna there so we could pour the water onto the rocks, even though the sign clearly said "No water on rocks!" ...and a woman who worked there came and told us to stop it and you/we said "well, this is how a true sauna is supposed to be experienced. my friend Mike knows cause he was in Finland for a year, so there." And she said, "Well, I guess you need to hear it from a man!" And she went and got a large man who came and told us to stop putting water on the rocks and we backed down. Sigh..good times.

Some may think it cute to relate themselves with trends in wheather, as if they think they had something to do with the gradual cooling of the earth. Pompous Human! You are but a star fart!
And you aren't helping with the survival of creeklife when you stand over it and cast your fat shadows on the nervous fish a moment away from death with the shading of their sun through the ice.
Yet another instance of hipocrasy. First "Buy Nothing Day" and now this. What's next, pictures of fancy cars? The cancer of the world!
